A Start To Rock Climbing

Many people know rock climbing exists, but nobody knows much about it. I'm here to help you get a baseline understanding of the sport, including some different kinds of climbing, the equipment you will need, and some climbing slang, so you can fit in when you climb!

BOULDERING

Boulder climbing is on short 12-14 foot walls. No rope is involved, only a big mat underneath you for falling.

Rope Climbing

Top rope climbing is where you are attached to the top of the wall by a rope tied to your harness.
Lead climbing is a more advanced version of top rope. Instead of being attached to the top of the wall, the climber has to clip in as they climb.

What do you need when you climb, and what do you say?
